AARP: Greenville among the best for ‘simple life’

Greenville is among the five best places in the country to live “the simple life,” according to the current issue of AARP magazine.

The magazine cites the city’s low cost of living, short commute times, sunny weather, proximity to mountains and family-friendly fun, among other amenities.

“Back in the late 1960s downtown Greenville was withering away, suffering the same fate that wiped out thousands of Main Streets. Now, thanks to 30 years of redevelopment — including a pedestrian-friendly Main Street, a performing arts center, condos and the stunning Liberty Bridge — what was once a desolate stretch of offices is now a vibrant town center,” the magazine states.

Other cities on the list were Tucson, Ariz.; Montpelier, Vt.; Logan, Utah; and Ames, Iowa.
