CH2M Hill earns $16M military contract

CH2M Hill Facilities and Infrastructure, Inc. of Spartanburg was awarded a $16.7 million contract for repairs to Trainee Barracks Upgrade Program at Fort Benning, Ga., the U.S. Department of Defense announced Thursday.

The work includes a new roofing system, exterior finishes, force protection, windows, fire protection, interior wall, doors, insulation, interior finishes, finish floors, ceilings, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning, control, electrical upgrades, electrical services and distribution, hazardous material abatement and landscaping.

Work is to be performed in Fort Benning, Ga., with an estimated completion date of March 19, 2011. 

The contract was competitively bid. Four proposals were solicited with three proposals received.  U.S. Army Engineer District of Savannah, Ga., is the contracting agency.

In September 2008, CH2M Hill was awarded a Multiple Award Task Order Contract to upgrade the barracks at Fort Benning, Ga. At that time CH2M  also submitted a bid for the $16 million option that was awarded Thursday.

CH2M Hill Facilities and Infrastructure is a division of CH2M Hill of Colorado. The Facility and Infrastructure division is headquartered in Spartanburg and focuses solely on U.S. government services, said spokeswoman Tessa Anderson. The division provides engineering, construction, operations, management and logistics support, among other services, she said.

CH2M Hill employs more than 300 people in its Spartanburg office, including 15 Government Facilities & Infrastructure Business Group employees.
