An Anderson company has introduced its latest product at the nation’s premiere consumer electronics show.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, WiProwess LLC introduced a small, light-weight power station that allows technology users to charge several wireless devices at once.

WiProwess Power Station The WiProwess Power Station is a 10-inch-by-2-inch lightweight strip made of ABS plastic that fits into a briefcase or backpack. It has a hidden cord that fits any standard electrical outlet and contains three AC outlets and three USB ports for small devices like cell phones, MP3 players and wireless readers. Users can also charge their products with a WildCharge receiving constellation that allows for continuous charging of all items while using the energy of just one.

Anderson native and WiProwess principal and CEO Craig Kinley and his business partners are introducing the concept prototype at CES to a variety of power manufacturers. The product will help meet consumer demand for convenient, portable wire-free power products, the company said.

The Power Station was conceived from a Purdue University study about students disappointed about the lack of power outlets in dorm rooms, campus libraries and other common areas. While they lauded the convenience of the wire-free charging pads and receiving constellations they were testing, most students agreed they did not have enough portability or the capability to charge a laptop in addition to their other wireless devices.

“WiProwess is constantly pursuing new integrations for the fast-growing wire-free power market,” Kinley said. “The Power Station stemmed from such a simple concept yet has the power to revolutionize the market because it’s the first practical, portable device for laptop users.”

The Power Station has a retractable flat bottom surface that keeps the power cord hidden when not in use.

The Power Station uses WildCharge Technology in the charging strip and receiving constellations. WiProwess is a design and integration partner with PureEnergy Solutions, developers of the WildCharge Technology.

“PureEnergy is excited to partner with companies like WiProwess that use our WildCharge technology in new and innovative ways,” said Mike Reynolds, vice president of marketing and sales operations for PureEnergy Solutions. “They are an important licensing partner for us and we support the launch of their product at the 2010 International CES.”

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is today through Sunday.
