The South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center will receive $750,000 to make necessary renovations to Taxi Way B-3, SCTAC officials said today.
Board members and local business leaders joined SCTAC’s President and CEO, Jody Bryson, to thank Fourth District U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis, a Greenville Republican, for helping to secure the federal appropriations.
“We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Inglis for his continued support of SCTAC,” said Bryson. “The funding will be used for vital renovations to Taxi Way B-3, updates that will not only improve safety on Donaldson Field but will assist in maintaining an efficient flow of air traffic.”
“Today, as SCTAC continues to expand our services to our current tenants, this money will make us more attractive to future tenants as well, which will ultimately lead to more Upstate jobs,” Bryson said.
SCTAC is a major aircraft maintenance and modification center with an 8,000-foot by 150-foot concrete primary runway for air cargo and other aviation-related business. The facility generates more than $220 million in annual economic impact to South Carolina.
“SCTAC is an important economic engine for our county in creating jobs and economic growth,” said Inglis. “I’m glad we were able to assist them in their efforts.”
SCTAC is located on 2,600 acres in Greenville County.
