The Greenville Drive baseball team won the 7th annual National Sports Forum ADchievement Awards Overall Award of Excellence for its 2009 advertising campaign created in partnership with Erwin-Penland.
The Drive, the Single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, is the only minor league organization from any sport to win the award. The team was competing against the Big Leagues, with its ad campaign judged along with those of the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco 49ers, Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, Oakland A’s and Minnesota Vikings.
The second, third and fourth place winners were Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.
The NSF ADchievement Awards recognize the best and most effective sports-themed advertising in eight different categories: television, radio, print, in stadium/in arena, sales collateral, out-of-home, alternative media and internet/web-based. Of the eight categories, the NSF ADchievement Overall Award of Excellence is presented to the sports team with the industry’s best collective advertising in 2009.
The Greenville Drive was chosen as the winner of the Excellence Award by an independent group of advertising experts located in Southern California.
“Winning the Award of Excellence at the 2010 NSF ADchievement Awards is an extraordinary honor,” said Mike deMaine, General Manager of the Greenville Drive. “We are proud to share this honor with our long-term partner, Erwin-Penland, as we continue to develop the team’s brand.”
