Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and Spartanburg-based OTO Development LLC today announced the opening of Hyatt Summerfield Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport-South, completing the final phase of the country’s first joint Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites development.

“We are thrilled to partner with Hyatt on the first-ever Hyatt Place-Hyatt Summerfield Suites joint development,” said Corry Oakes, CEO and president of OTO Development. “The Hyatt Place hotel, which opened in January, has been a tremendous success and already surpassed our expectations. Thanks to Hyatt Summerfield Suites’ distinct offerings, we are confident that travelers to the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) area will embrace the brand the same way they did Hyatt Place.”

The hotel features 143 guestrooms, all of which feature a 32-inch HDTV in the bedroom and living area, and an eight-foot sectional sofa-sleeper, complimentary Wi-Fi access and a free hot breakfast buffet. Each suite features a full kitchen.

The hotel also has 1,000 square feet of meeting space.

“Fort Lauderdale’s varied mix of business, leisure, domestic and international travelers make it the ideal location for this first-ever joint Hyatt Place-Hyatt Summerfield Suites development,” said Gary Dollens, senior vice president of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. “These brands complement each other very well and we believe the brands’ welcoming environment, helpful staff and practical amenities will exceed the expectations of this traveler mix.”

Hyatt Summerfield Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport-South is just off of Interstate 95 and Sterling Road. The hotel is located just 2.5 miles from Hollywood International Airport and three miles from Port Everglades Cruise Terminal.
