Lynn Lewis and Margaret Seidler have been chosen as the South Carolina delegates for Vision 2020, a national project focused on advancing gender equality by energizing the dialogue about women and leadership.
More than 1,000 people registered to nominate or become Vision 2020 National Delegates, and 102 were chosen to represent their home states with three-year terms on the organization’s congress of national delegates.
At Vision 2020’s first public event Oct. 21-22 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, the congress will launch an action agenda to move America toward equality by 2020, the centennial celebration of the 19th Amendment. The name of the conference is Vision 2020: An American Conversation about Women and Leadership.
The national search for delegates focused on finding women who have demonstrated a commitment to helping women and girls. These delegates are willing to mobilize resources to bring about positive change and implement elements of the decade-long Vision 2020 agenda.
Lewis, the dean of nursing and allied health at Tri-County Technical College, has spent the last 34 years as an advocate of women’s health issues and nursing in education, business and regulatory settings. Lewis’ interest in women’s health issues is evidenced by her published research in prepared childbirth education and abstracts/poster presentations about lipid treatment in women by obstetrician/gynecologists on both a state and national level. As a breast cancer survivor, she strives to normalize public perceptions of the disease as a chronic, manageable illness rather than a cause-effect illness.
Seidler is a nationally recognized organization development consultant, master trainer, and author based in Charleston. Her practice focuses on creating higher performance in both organization and community systems. Her community involvement includes serving as chairperson of the Old Charlestowne District Task Force, an area representing twelve neighborhoods. Also, as a volunteer for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, she served as the catalyst to form a partnership with the Center for Women to host the annual Women in Business Conference.
