MTU Detroit Diesel has selected Greenville-based Network Controls and Electric Inc. to provide fiber cabling for the company's new Graniteville plant.

The project includes the installation of single mode and multimode fiber throughout the plant. The contract was awarded through the project's mechanical contractor, Southern Industrial Contractors.

"This project is a significant boost to the area's economic development and we value the opportunity to be a part of the project," said Brad Cunningham, CEO of Network Controls.

MTU Detroit Diesel is slated to create 250 jobs in Graniteville.

The cable will extend throughout the plant to five network cabinets. The project includes the installation of 3,000 square feet of outside plant fiber.
