Mark Hood of Hood Construction Co. in Columbia has been named 2011 board chairman of the Carolinas Associated General Contractors, the nation’s largest AGC chapter.

Carolinas AGC has around 2,200 members. The organization supports efforts in work force development, business development, profit management, and workers' compensation insurance.

More than 75% of commercial and industrial construction in both North and South Carolina is performed or supported by Carolinas AGC members, the organization said.
