SCRA-affiliate Advanced Technology International, ATI, was awarded the five-year, $99 million contract for the Office of Naval Research Navy Composites Manufacturing Center.

The contract will fund the Composites Manufacturing Technology Center in Anderson, which is comprised of ATI and corporate partners from the composites industry. It includes an initial two-year base period award of $40 million, two one-year options for $20 million per year and a final option year at $19 million. The work effort will be performed by ATI at its Anderson Innovation Center, which is on the Clemson University Advanced Materials Center campus in Anderson County.

The CMTC, established in 2000, is one of nine centers of excellence that serve as technology resources to the Navy under the Navy Manufacturing Technology Program, commonly referred to as ManTech. The centers are focal points for the development of manufacturing processes and equipment in a collaborative environment between industry, academia and the Navy’s industrial facilities and laboratories.

The CMTC develops improved manufacturing processes for composites and advanced materials and facilitates technology transfer to resolve manufacturing and repair issues identified and prioritized by the Navy and other Department of Defense services and industry. The developed technologies have application to modern DOD aircraft, surface ships, submarines, land vehicles and associated weapons and missiles.

“We look forward to continuing our service to the Department of Defense, the Navy and the ManTech Program through the Composites Manufacturing Technology Center in our Anderson Innovation Center,” said ATI President Rick Self. “Our program managers have proven that they can effectively lead this collaboration and solve manufacturing problems for the Department of Defense.”
