The S.C. Chamber of Commerce released the 2011 Legislative Scorecard tracking South Carolina lawmakers’ votes on matters most affecting business.
The Chamber tracked votes on numerous issues this year: the angel investment fund, capital reserve fund, charter schools, education and economic development act, employee discrimination, Employer Free Speech Act, environmental regulatory relief, government restructuring, job tax credits, port study resolution, sales tax exemptions, secret ballot, Taxpayer Fairness Act, tort reform and Unemployment Insurance Tax Relief.
The state Chamber tracks these key roll call votes and tallies all votes to determine an overall score for each member of the General Assembly during each legislative session.
Legislative votes are tracked according to the Chamber’s position on each issue. Then, a final composite score is given for each legislator, with 100% being a perfect score.
