Upstate Alliance CEO Hal Johnson to serve on SEDC board

The Southern Economic Development Council Board of Directors elected Upstate SC Alliance President and CEO Hal Johnson as the second vice chairman.

upstatealliance-8760-EditJohnson will serve as the second vice chairman for a one-year term. Johnson will then become the board chairman in 2014.

Johnson joined the SEDC in 2001, previously serving as the S.C. state director and as the secretary and treasurer. Johnson will take his new seat immediately.

“As a professional association, our main goal is to provide tangible benefits to our members allowing them to advance the economic prosperity of the area they serve,” said SEDC Chairwoman Mallie Combs. “Hal will be a great asset in helping us achieve this goal.”

The Southern Economic Development Council is a more than 830-member, nonprofit organization of industrial and economic developers from business and industry, utilities, transportation, financial and education institutions, chambers of commerce, and local, regional and state development agencies. The council aims to promote and enhance the economic development profession.

The SEDC region includes: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
