The funds were raised from Verizon’s fifth annual Carolinas/Tennessee Agent Invitational golf tournament. The tournament has raised $35,000 for the hospice over the past five years through the Verizon Wireless local agent team.

“We are thrilled that the agent invitational has had such success, representing over 350 retail locations in our region,” said Tim Butler, Verizon Wireless Carolinas/Tennessee Region indirect sales director. “We believe it is our responsibility to improve our community, and this event presents a great opportunity for us to give back and support a worthy cause in the Upstate.”

“Each donation impacts someone’s life and improves the care available to those served by Hospice of the Upstate,” said Pam Melbourne, Hospice of the Upstate president and CEO. “Verizon’s donation will enable us to better meet the needs of the patients and families in our community.”

The Hospice of the Upstate provides care to terminally-ill patients and their families.

Verizon Wireless serves 108.7 million wireless connections, including 92.2 million retail customers. Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., it has nearly 82,000 employees nationwide.
