The Dirty Guv’nahs perform
What: The Dirty Guv’nahs, a Nashville, Tenn. band, will perform with special guests Mountain Homes.

Salsa Night
What: Salsa Greenville hosts a salsa lesson. No partner required.
When: Thursday, 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Friday Starry Nights: Oasis in Space
What: The Roper Mountain Science Center hosts shows at the Daniel Observatory to observe the stars and planets seen through the eighth largest telescope of its kind in the nation.
When: Friday, 7 p.m. or 8:15 p.m.
Where: Roper Mountain Science Center, 402 Roper Mountain Road, Greenville.
Cost: $5 for adults; $4 for children, ages 5 to 12, and for senior citizens, age 60 and older.

Comic Opera Pinafore
What: The Spartanburg Repertory Co. will present the comic and classic opera H.M.S. Pinafore.
When: Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 3 p.m.
Where: Broome High School, 381 Cherry Hill Road, Spartanburg.

Musical Desserts
What: The principal cellist will be showcased in Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme. Glinka’s overture, Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise, and Mendelssohn’s 1st Symphony will also be included.
When: Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 3 p.m.

Alchemy Improv Comedy
What: Alchemy Improv Comedy entertains audiences every Friday night with a different guest storyteller each week. It’s fully improvised.
When: Friday, 9:30 to 10:45 p.m.
Where: Coffee Underground, 1 E. Coffee St., Greenville.
Cost: $5 per person. Get tickets at the door.

Lake Greenwood Clean-up Blitz
What: The fourth annual Lake Greenwood Cleanup Blitz is a volunteer opportunity to help clean Lake Greenwood. During the past three events, volunteers have removed 10,356 pounds of trash, litter and debris from the lake.
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
Where: Lake Greenwood State Recreation Area, 302 State Park Road, Ninety Six

GHS Centennial Half Marathon and 5K
What: The half marathon and 5K road races are held mostly on the Swamp Rabbit Trail from Travelers Rest to downtown Greenville.
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
Where: The half marathon begins at 8 a.m. in Travelers Rest. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. at 400 E. McBee Ave.
Cost: The 5K costs $30 and the half marathon costs $70. Register here.

S.C. Organic Growing Conference
What: The first S.C. Organic Growing Conference, organized by Rebecca McKinney, will feature information and classes on growing organically.
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Harrington-Peachtree Academic Center, Presbyterian College, 503 S. Broad St., Clinton.
Cost: $62 per person for four classes and a locally sourced lunch, catered by Spotted Salamander of Columbia. Register here.

Walnut Grove Plantation Tour
What: The Walnut Grove Plantation and historic home in Roebuck is open for public, guided tours each Saturday in March. It’s operated by the Spartanburg County Historical Association. Among the first settlers in the Upstate, Charles and Mary Moore established Walnut Grove Plantation on a 550-acre land grant in 1765.
When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 1200 Oats Shoals Road, Roebuck.
Cost: $6 for adults; $3 for ages 5 to 17; free for ages 4 and under.

Return to the Green
What: The Cara Club sponsors an annual family celebration of Irish culture for the community.
When: Sunday, 1 to 6 p.m.
Where: Peace Center Amphitheater and Wyche Pavilion, 300 S. Main St., Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Coffee and Poetry at Coffee Underground
What: Bring your own poems to read or perform. Beginners welcome. All poetry styles welcome.
When: Sunday, 7:30 to 10 p.m.
Where: Coffee Underground, 1 E. Coffee St., Greenville.
