Sixth Annual Seneca Fest
What: A family-friendly festival with a free concert by the Little River Band, art displays, crafters, barbecue, classic car cruise in, train rides, helicopter rides and a 5K run or walk.

Hear stories of WWII
What: A book signing with Elbert L. Watson, author of Heroes All: Amazing Stories of World War II.

Spartanburg Parks: Evening Mountain Bike Ride
What: A family-friendly ride geared for all levels and abilities.
When: Thursday, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Where: Duncan Park, 1000 Duncan Park Drive, Spartanburg.

Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive
What: The Cleghorn will perform Southern rock music at this outdoor concert that raises money for the Metropolitan Arts Council.
When: Thursday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Hyatt Plaza, Main Street, downtown Greenville.
Cost: Free.

The Upstate Shakespeare Festival
What: Performances of two Shakespeare plays.
When: Thursday through Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: TD Amphitheater, Falls Park, 601 S. Main St., Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Salsa Night
What: Salsa Greenville hosts salsa lessons. No partner required.
When: Thursday, 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Where: Studio 54, 3715 E. North St., Greenville.
Cost: $5 per person.

Freedom Weekend Aloft
What: Simpsonville was selected to host the regional and state hot-air balloon championships over Memorial Day weekend at Heritage Park. The event includes live music, food and a 5K.
When: Friday through Monday. Check out the schedule.
Where: Heritage Park, 861 S. E. Main St., Simpsonville.

Main Street Fridays
What: Coyote Run and Albannach will perform Scottish and Celtic music at this outdoor, downtown concert.

The Great Scot Parade
What: The parade will celebrate Scottish heritage.
When: Friday, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Begins at West North and North Main streets, Greenville.

Friday Starry Nights: Oasis in Space
What: The Roper Mountain Science Center hosts shows at the Daniel Observatory to observe the stars and planets seen through the eighth largest telescope of its kind in the nation.
When: Friday, 7 p.m. or 8:15 p.m.
Where: Roper Mountain Science Center, 402 Roper Mountain Road, Greenville.
Cost: $5 for adults; $4 for children, ages 5 to 12, and for senior citizens, age 60 and older.

Alchemy Improv Comedy
What: Alchemy Improv Comedy entertains audiences every Friday night with a different guest storyteller each week. It’s fully improvised.
When: Friday, 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Where: Coffee Underground, 1 E. Coffee St., Greenville.
Cost: $5 per person for the 8 p.m. show and $8 per person for the 9:30 p.m. show. Get tickets at the door.

TD Saturday Market
What: The TD Saturday Market offers locally grown produce, foods and flowers.

Hub City Farmers Market
What: Hub City hosts its Spartanburg farmers market with locally grown produce, foods and flowers.

USA Cycling Pro Championships Time Trial
What: The national time trial championships, hand cycling event and the Amateur Stars and Stripes Challenge will occur.
When: Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: CU-ICAR, 5 Research Drive, Greenville and throughout Greenville.

Coffee and Poetry at Coffee Underground
What: Bring your own poems to read or perform. Beginners welcome. All poetry styles welcome.
When: Sunday, 7:30 to 10 p.m.
