Windsor/Aughtry Co. business partner Bruce B. Aughtry announced he will be leaving the firm to open his own commercial real estate firm.

Aughtry is opening McWillie Properties LLC. It will focus on commercial sites such as banks, drug stores, restaurants and convenience stores, as well as residential development properties and recreational/timber tracts.

“I am truly excited with the challenge of a new company. I envisioned it a few years ago, but I could not leave many of my co-workers at Windsor/Aughtry, particularly my big brother,” Aughtry said.

Windsor/Aughtry Co. is a homebuilder, commercial real estate developer and brokerage firm headquartered in Greenville. Aughtry has been with Windsor/Aughtry since its 1988 inception.

He also worked with Bo Aughtry, his brother and principal at the firm, at The Aughtry Co. for six years prior to that.

“Bruce is a longtime contributor to the company’s success, and while he will be sorely missed, he takes with him the very best wishes for his success,” said P.C. “Bo” Aughtry III, Windsor/Aughtry principal. “Beyond being brothers and business associates, we are best friends. While not seeing each other every day may at first seem strange, we will stay in close touch business wise, and be each other’s No. 1 cheerleader.”

“I have been truly blessed and influenced by the best — Walt Brashier, Frank Halter, Dan Joyner and my brother. The consistent message from these gentlemen was simple — absolute integrity and fairness, and leave something for the next person. These will be the foundation principles for my new company,” Aughtry said.

Windsor/Aughtry Co. Inc. has developed and sold more than 3,000 single-family homes in 40 master-planned communities.

In commercial development, the company has developed 14 hotel and mixed-use developments; has acquired, constructed and expanded more than 1 million square feet of shopping centers and single-tenant developments anchored by major retailers; and has been recently active in the medical development field.
