The First Citizens Foundation donated $20,000 to the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation Inc.

Thompson, chairman of the Visual Arts Department, said he hopes to complete the sculpture by September. It will be housed at the gateway to the school’s residential campus.
“Joe Thompson's dynamic sculpture will serve as an impressive symbol of welcome to our campus,” said the school’s president, Bruce Halverson, in a news release. “An exciting school needs exciting art, and we are very grateful to the First Citizens Foundation for its instrumental role in making this wonderful project possible.”
