The U.S. Coast Guard awarded a $3 million contract to SCRA’s research and development division to support an information sharing system for port security.

Under the agreement, the Applied R&D department will do maintenance and make improvements to the Interagency Operations Center WatchKeeper System. The WatchKeeper System manages port security information to help Department of Homeland Security and federal, state and local maritime officials secure ports more efficiently.

The program is a part of the Coast Guard’s Interagency Operations Center/Comand 21 project.

“SCRA Applied R&D offers domain expertise and capabilities that support these efforts to improve our ports and security,” said company President Chris Van Metre.

SCRA worked on Project Seahawk in Charleston, which was a pilot project for securing for policing and securing cargo, since the WatchKeeper program began.
