The Urban League is a non-profit organization that provides education, employment and housing services for the economically disadvantaged in Upstate communities.
Littlejohn is currently the YWCA of Greenville executive director and a Greenville City Council member, representing District 3.
“The Urban League conducted a national search to fill the position,” Board Co-chair John Slipke said in a news release. “Several very good candidates were considered but Jil was clearly the best qualified. She is a dynamic community leader with a strong commitment to the mission of the Urban League.”
Littlejohn has been the executive director of the YWCA since March 2009. She was elected to the City Council in January 2009. She previously worked in financial positions with World Acceptance Corp. and Milliken and Co.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Wofford College in 2001 and an MBA from Webster University in 2005. She is bilingual in Spanish and English.
“The Urban League has had a positive impact on the lives of so many in the Upstate,” Littlejohn said in a news release. “I look forward to the opportunity to expand our role in empowering communities and giving people the tools they need to achieve success.”
