The YMCA of Pickens County said it purchased 22 acres of land at Highway 81 and Wyatt Road in Powdersville to build a new facility.

This will be the organization’s third location, joining facilities in Pickens and Easley, and one of three new YMCAs to open recently. A YMCA opened in November at the Verdae community in Greenville and one opened in Spartanburg in April.

The YMCA of Pickens County continues to craft building and programming plans, according to a news release.

The project will be developed in partnership with Grace Church, which has met at the Powdersville High School for the past year. The YMCA and the church will work together sharing resources such as parking lots, playgrounds and general infrastructure.
