Report: S.C. records net gain of 313 households in 2012

South Carolina dropped to sixth place in Allied Van Lines’ 45th annual Magnet States Report, which tracks U.S. migration patterns.

Allied reported it moved 1,687 households into the Palmetto State in 2012 and moved 1,376 families out of the state, for a net gain of 311 households.

In 2011, the state ranked third with a net gain of 489 households as Allied relocated 1,794 families to South Carolina and moved out 1,305.

Texas, which recorded a net gain of 1,585 households, remained the top destination for the eighth year in a row, according to the report. Florida ranked second with a gain of 666 households.

Pennsylvania was the top outbound state, losing a net total of 948 households, followed by Illinois with a net loss of 882 families.
