Motionhouse

What: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus puts on a show featuring elephants, tigers, acrobats, aerialists and other performers.

Artists’ Guild Member Awards Show
What:
The Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg will host the first annual Artists’ Guild Member Awards Show. This is the guild’s first non-juried competition, allowing all members to submit a piece in the showcase. The public will vote for its favorite pieces of art. The winners will be announced Feb. 28.
When: Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
Where: Chapman Cultural Center, 200 E. St. John St., Spartanburg.

First Annual Greenville Roast
What: A light-hearted event where hosts will roast Greenville Mayor Knox White. This event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas and the YWCA.
When: Friday, 6 p.m.
Where: Hyatt Regency Downtown Greenville, 220 N. Main St., Greenville.

Jazz concert
What:
A concert featuring local jazz musician and singer Tish Oney, a faculty member at USC Upstate, who has an international career in jazz performance. The concert will also feature the Upstate Jazz All-Stars, an ensemble of university faculty.

Where: David W. Reid Theatre, Chapman Cultural Center, 200 E. St. John St., Spartanburg.

Friday Starry Nights
What: The Roper Mountain Science Center hosts shows at the Daniel Observatory to observe the stars and planets seen through the eighth largest telescope of its kind in the nation.
When: Friday, 7 or 8:15 p.m.
Where: Roper Mountain Science Center, 402 Roper Mountain Road, Greenville.
Cost: $5 for adults; $4 for children, ages 5 to 12, and for senior citizens, age 60 and older.

Alchemy Improv Comedy
What: Alchemy Improv Comedy entertains audiences every Friday night with a different guest storyteller each week. It’s fully improvised. The early show will feature the cast of Alchemy Comedy.
When: Friday, 8 and 9:30 p.m.
Where: Coffee Underground, 1 E. Coffee St., Greenville.

Hero’s 5K
What: An annual run/walk held at Furman University in memory of all fallen heroes.

Samuel Amadon poetry workshop
What: All writers are invited to the Hub City Writers Project’s spring workshops and craft talks, led by published and professional writers from the region. The format is part lecture, part exercise, with a maximum of 20 students per class. Samuel Amadon will teach “Constraints & Models: Strategies for Generating Creative Work.”
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: The Showroom at Hub-Bub, 149 S. Daniel Morgan Ave., Spartanburg.

Coffee and Poetry at Coffee Underground
