Johnson is also the founder and owner of Liquid Catering, a Greenville-based, full-service alcohol and beverage catering company that runs out of a renovated garage at 116 E. Broad St.
Liquid Catering sales were up more than 200% for 2012 compared with the year prior, with 60% of the business stemming from weddings. Johnson saw an opportunity to create another business from her events-based company.
“We need another event venue in downtown Greenville,” Johnson said of the space that will host weddings, fundraisers and corporate, nonprofit and social events, among others. “This is a really creative space that we can personalize for each event.”
Renovations are ongoing in the basement of 912 S. Main St., a space that has been vacant since 2006. Part of the space has average ceiling heights with floor-to-ceiling beams throughout, and the other portion has vaulted ceilings as high as two stories.
Following renovations and a small expansion, the space will contain 7,700 square feet of interior space, as well as an outdoor deck, capable of accommodating 600 guests.
